PROFILE:

Full Name: Chenelle Anastacia Davids

D:O:B:17 0ctober

P:O:B: Macassar, Cape Town

Nickname: Chanay-nay

0ccupation:Hectic Nine-9 Presenter

‘’I get to meet new people daily and I am  also constantly learning about this industry’’
Energetic, go-getter and entertaining, those are the three words, Hectic Nine-9 Presenter, Chenelle Davids from Macassar in Cape Town describes herself as.

Chanay-nay, as she is commonly referred to on the popular youth show is definitely not afraid to be herself, offering unique elements to Hectic Nine-9, such as her vibey personality, love for laughter amongst many other things. Yes, she is no stranger to the telly, but life on Hectic Nine-9 has helped her overcome being shy!

So, you think presenting is easy? Well , a typical day on set at the Hectic Nine-9 studios in Cape Town include arriving on set an hour before call time, reading through script lines, makeup, rehearsing (now, that sounds like a mouthful already),and then finally going live across mzansi.

If Chenelle is not on set, you will most probably find her chilling, writing or learning lines, ’’I'm very into poems,so I write a lot and read as much as I can’’ she says. Her number one role model is her mother ‘’ My role model, would have to be my mom...she keeps me grounded’’ she says. She also looks up to her co-presenter Laurian  Nortje, former Hn9 Presenter, Danine Naidoo, as well as actresses, Melony Du Bois,Anna Mart, Vinette Ebrahim. Initially , adjusted to life on Hectic Nine-9 quite easily, as she has been a fan of the show, growing up.

However, she found it hard to get used to looking directly into the cameras on set, as her previous experience as an actress, meant not looking directly into the cameras.
Landing a dream job on Hectic Nine-9 was far from easy. She earned the job as the 3rd place winner of the Hectic Nine-9 presenter search early last year, following the initial 2nd place winner, pulling out due to other commitments .

Some of Chenelle’s  craziest moments on set include ‘’laughing like a maniac’’ and eating raw onions on live television.Being part of an industry that tends to be quite critical, she has learnt to deal with criticism’’ Criticism is there to mould you...when you get crit concerning your work don't see in as an attack on who you are and your talent. Take it, whether it is negative or positive, and work it so that it can add value to your craft.’’ she says.

On her list of 3 things she cannot live without include, her cell phone, her art (presenting and acting) and chocolate!

So ,what does the future hold for Chanay-nay? ‘’ I want to be part of a huge musical theatre play and my ultimate dream is to go to the undiscovered islands, and to those people who knows nothing about GOD, or the bible and to them I want to  act out the stories within the bible,’’she explains.
Hectic Nine-9 airs Mondays-Fridays at 4-5pm on SABC 2.
