Love her or hate her, born Kelly Nonhlanhla Khumalo - she is best known for her work as a Afro-Pop songstress and actress. Residing from Spruit View on the East Rand in JHB, she has had a roller-coaster journey, not only in terms of her career, but her personal life too - assault allegations, drugs, an abusive relationship, wild parties the list goes on...

Growing up, gospel music played a key role in her life, as she sang in church from a young age. Kelly was discovered back in 2003, at the Cruz gospel concert. She later went on to make her debut as a professional artist at a Kaiser Chiefs soccer match.Two months later, she performed as the opening act for international music star, Missy Elliot.

Career Bliss...
In 2005, she released her debut album TKO, which lead to her receiving an award for ''Best Newcomer''on the Afro-Pop chart. Kelly went on to release 4 more albums. Her latest offering, The Past, Present and Future released last year, symbolized her comeback in the music industry. Kelly's ultimate milestone was when she received the award for ''Best SA female artist'' at the SAMA's, this year.

Not shy to tell it like it is, Kelly released her autobiography, The Kelly Khumalo Story, last year detailing her controversial life story. Her acting credits include featuring in the drama series Mtunzi.com, as well as playing the role of Sunay in Etv's Rhythym City and featured in one of Etv's love drama's, last year. No stranger to reality shows, her own reality show Rolling with Kelly Khumalo aired on etv last year, documenting her highly publicized comeback in the music industry.
Controversy ...
Early last year, she spoke out and admitted to being a cocaine addict for 2 years and admitted to using cocaine , as a present for her former boyfriend and ex-music star, Jub Jub's birthday in 2009. Kelly is now living a drug-free life with the help of N.A meetings - and also does motivational speaking. Jub Jub and kelly were the 'It' 'couple and were so smitten that Kelly decided to have a tattoo of him inked on her shoulder. However, things went downhill after Kelly fell pregnant and Jub Jub began abusing her. Even after Jub Jub's arrest, after he killed school boys by driving recklessly, she continued to support him in court but later ended their 2 year relationship.

- Her latest scandal emerged after she allegedly assaulted Pirates goal keeper, Senzo Meyiwa's wife ,along with her sister as a result of a love triangle. Senzo has since spoke out, saying Kelly is a good woman and is not the reason for his marriage falling apart. The case continues in the Hillbrow Magistrates Court.
- In September this year, industry insiders claimed she uses cheap skin-lighteners, which she purchases from a shop in Downtown, JHB.
