Popular British comedian, Kev Orkian returns to the mother city for one night only on 06 April 2013, at the Grand Arena in Cape Town, as part of funny man, Marc Lottering's roadshow.
He does not have to do much to draw a crowd, as he's just a natural crowd pleaser, balancing his forte as a stand-up comedian ,musician, actor and director.
Fans are certainly in for a treat, as an hour has been set aside for Kev to do his thing! He will have you in stitches!
"It's going to be a diverse show with great comedians who have grafted their art. It's going to be a night people will talk about for a long time," says an enthusiastic Kev that will be performing his popular show, previously performed at Las Vegas Lounges.Comedian Tumi Morake and Robby Collins, who opened for Trevor Noah’s comedy tour, recently will also take to the stage.
Well, Kev returns in a few days, and is ready to rock!Kev is rather overwhelmed at being invited to perform in Cape Town again, for the third time to be exact. Kev reveals that he loves Cape Town and the people of our gorgeous Mother City.
"The culture, people and views of Cape Town are second to none. I believe the Table Top mountain has been recognized as a wonder of the world, which is fantastic. I have had the privilege of visiting Aquila Safari Park which was wonderful, I've dined in many restaurants and enjoyed every single one of them, acquired a taste for Springbok, and had the Bo-kaap district 6 tour was mind blowing’’explains Kev.
During time spent in Cape Town, he has even been taught a few slang words such as ‘Eket Jou Leif’, which gets him around most places,'Bru', which gets him in with fellow male comedians, but of course no visit to Cape Town would be complete without having a traditional braai, which he thoroughly enjoys. Kev also reveals that during the past three years he has become close friends with popular comedians Marc Lottering, Alan Committee and Stuart Taylor.
"Honestly, I have gained some incredible SA comedian friends over the past three years. I am in touch with them often. I love Alan Committee and Mark Lottering. I absolutely respect the talents of Kurt Schoonraad and Stuart Taylor, and keep your eyes peeled on Angel Blythe, Siv Ngesi, KG and Piet Potgieter , talents all of them,’’he adds.
Since the last time Kev has been in South Africa, he has been touring around the world with his one-man show and also starred in a few TV Shows, including a Gala Performance with Katherine Jenkins. Kev has also been busy at working on a new piano album and stand-up comedy DVD ,which he will be releasing in a few days time..MM..SOUNDS LIKE A MOUTH FULL!
Kev has taken his hilarious stand-up act around the world from New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Dubai and the list goes on!One of his latest performances includes entertaining the Saudi Prince at a private gig in the Seychelles. Kev admits he does not get nervous on stage when performing."I love what I do, and don't get nervous when I'm on stage, I actually like being there. I am so grateful people enjoy what I do. I think it comes from me enjoying myself on stage and resonating it to others,’’he says.
