Spring 2016 fashion trends for the ladies

This season is all about carefully strategically paired-up hues, prints and detail, contrary to previous seasons, forget about  OTT and random colour-blocking and mixing prints. When putting your ensemble together, choose one or two statement focus points and use the rest of your ensemble to compliment your statement pieces.

Spring 2016 101

Colours: Pink, white, light blue, light purple, orange, gold, tye-dye and vivid colours.

Texture: Lots of soft and loose-fitting fabrics.
Detail: Sequin, romantic ruffles, floral, flowers, pin stripes, floral, pleats and micro-pleats.

Dress length: Maxi, knee-length and midi.
Neckline: Deep V-neckline, high-neck, key-hole neckline.

1. Wide-legged pants are super-chic, and a different take on normal pants, or go for pin- stripe trousers with sneakers. Dare to try low hanging pants, or a paper bag waist pants. Know what works for your body shape.

2. Off-the-shoulder top and the one shoulder, cut-out detail are everything.

 Seen on the runway by Preen Spring 2016. Who can forget how Bonang Matheba rocked it at New York Fashion Week.

3. Crop top\ bralette - Dare to bear? Wear with a high-wasted bf jeans, or maxi skirt.

4. Maxi spaghetti strap dress with band. Maxi-length is modest yet chic. A dress paired up with a band around the waist is a must. Rock it with a contrasting colour band is perfect, or pair with a printed midi dress. 5. Athletic wear does not only belong in the gym, celebs have made it a super-sexy staple. Dare pair with heels!

6. Gold blazer | jacket
Because plane colours are too basic. Wear it over a body suite for a conventional take on basic t-shirts. Invest in a body suit t-shirt with lace detail, etc.

7. Jumpsuit – Stick to nude colours, or dazzle in pastel colours. Feel like a bit of a rebel? Go for distressed denim. Dark denim is everything.

8. Shirts layered under dresses – No you do not have to be 12 to rock this trend. Layering is everything, be it a shirt or sweater under a sleeveless dress.

9. Military inspired wear – From the arm pants, jacket to boots, go all out.

10. Shoes - Sneakers, heels, block heel ballet pumps, pumps with laces up laces. Strapped up sandals. Nude colours such as beige, nude and black are everything. Spice up your look with sandals with fringe detail or beading. Dare to be different? Why not go all the way with a sultry knee-high gladiator sandal?

Accessories

Handbag – Backpacks are everything. Go for plain colours. Invest in a small clutch purse and a bag with minimal detail. Transparent bags are a hit too.

Shoes -  Sneakers, heels, block heel ballet pumps, pumps with laces up laces are all kinds of cool. Strapped up sandals - Nude colours such as beige, nude and black are everything. Spice up your look with sandals with fringe detail or beading. Dare to be different? Why not go all the way with a sultry knee-high gladiator sandal?

Earrings:Dangling earrings, small earrings, statement necklace, arm candy, small clutch purse, hoop earrings Jessica Alba, also tassels and not forgetting a chic hat.
Headband: Head wraps have become smaller, more into head band form. Lots of busy prints? Yes, please.

Sunglasses: Invest in some Taylor Swift inspired green round sunnies, Lady Gaga also rocked round black glasses recently.
