Hanging out with Mi Casa's J' Something

''We are not like these celebrities that you see on stage, and then at home we are different people. We are the same people wherever we are, be it with our family and friends "

Q and A with J’Something
How does it feel to hear fans scream, and go crazy every time you walk on stage?
It’s a very hard thing to describe. We have been doing this show for four years in a row. Every year, it’s beautiful literally. Cape Town is our favourite place to play in the whole world. Every time we drive in, and see the mountains, we just know we are going to have a good time.
What are your plans for the year ahead?
We always try to put on good music, and good shows. We have a lot of international gigs in the pipeline. A lot of African gigs. Our album, Home Sweet Home, that’s going to be our main focus.
Please tell me more about your album, Home Sweet Home
If we look back our first album, Mi Casa, which means my house, our house is a structure. A home is something you build up over time. That’s what we’ve done over the last five years. We have built a home. Every time we look at the crowd, we look at the people who we have as fans, we feel like it’s something that is genuine, and really nice. The third album, Home Sweet Home is a message to all the people who have supported us, to say that you are all part of this. We have a home because of you. The album has got 25 songs. It’s a double disc album, and has collaborations with people from all over the world. It’s a really good album.
What was it like touring around the world last year as part of your  #MicasaGoneGlobal world tour?
It’s similar to our Kirstenbosch gig. It’s a very speechless moment. We think why are 6000 people here to watch us play on a Sunday afternoon? That’s the same feeling we had when we were in Portugal. We had 3000 people singing our songs. It was bizarre. We were not prepared for it. We thought we were going to play at a small venue with a couple of hundred people, but every venue we went to there was a couple of thousand people.
How do you stay humble?
I don’t think it’s hard to maintain when you are being you. We are humble because we are just genuinely humble. It’s just who we are. What you see on stage, is what you get. We are not like these celebrities that you see on stage, and then at home we are different people. We are the same people wherever we are, be it with our family, and friends, etc.  But I think that comes from a very deep understanding of what our mothers taught us. We not here to proclaim that we are the best, we are here to say we are nothing without you.

Message to your fans?
Thank you for supporting our music, going to our shows. Thank you for tweeting us and cheering us on. All the best for 2016, we hope you achieve all your dreams. If not this year, try again next year.

Mi Casa has their eye set on touring Arica this year with a lot of their focus being put on places they have never visited before.

1 on 1 with Carl Wastie

Carl Wastie and I. Carl Wastie 1 on 1 with Carl Wastie So, I got to sit down and have a good chat with energetic media personality, Carl Wastie at a popular restaurant in Cape Town. Known for his dynamite (literally, after all, dynamite does come in small packages), who cam miss his funky mohawk? Carl is friendly and super-humble . Who is Carl Wastie in a nutshell? He is a Cape Town-based individual that feels that humility is more important than talent. I studied psychology at UCT and later worked at a video shop. People from Good Hope FM saw me at an MC gig, all thanks to the people at the video shop. So, I could say, I started my career in the entertainment industry out of a video shop. You can't believe in luck and hard work at the same time, because lucky people are those who are at the right place, at the right time. Hard workers put themselves in the right place and get there at the right time. Since then, people Good Hope FM spotted me and then Expresso . I
