Hot Summer Groove @the Grand Arena set the tone for summer!+Q and A with Loukmaan Adams

BlackByrd group members and I.
Hot Summer Grrove held at the Grand Arena, on Saturday, 6 December 2014 featured some of South Africa's finest performers, such as BlackByrd, Emo Adams, Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell and Ramaine Borrero-Lloyd. Accompanied by the Take Note Band, Saturday saw the Adams brothers perform together for the first time in 20 years. It was also the first time Izobell, The Adams brothers and Borrero-Lloyd reunited, after many years. They performed together years ago, in a group known as NU FANCY.

Crowed favourite: Emo Adams
Hosted by Heart 104.9 DJ, Irma G artists performed classic hits and did their own catchy cover versions of more recent hits - Loukmaan performed his own version of D' Banj's Oliver Twist. Meanwhile, Izobell accompanied by backing singers,  Robin Peters and Edith Plaatjies performed his own version of Dr Malinga's Via Orlando.

Opening act, Steyn Fourie had the crowed on their feet with his comedy antics and had audience members singing along, performing hits such as Lets Twist Again and La Bamba by Ritchie Valens. Borrero-Lloyd's power house vocals reminded us of singer, Aretha Franklin. Our favourite performance by her was her rendition of Joy's
Paradise Road. BlackByrd proved why they are one of SA's most talented trios, as they performed some of their popular hits.

Singer, Zayne Adams made a surprise appearance and performed his classic hit, Give A Little Love , which received a standing ovation from the audience.

It was entertainer Emo Adams who certainly was one of the most popular performers on the night. He had the audience on their feet as he sang popular hits such as Gums Kawielie Wams and Jaloers Bokkie. His comedy antics had the crowed in stitches.

A lucky concert goer, Franklin Morgendal walked away with a brand new FAW V2 1.3 worth R100 000.

Entertaining Trio: BlackByrd

Remembering NU FANCY:

- Group members included Izobell, Borrero-Lloyd and the Adams brothers.
- Back in the day, the group toured South Africa along with the Rockets and PJ Powers.
-They went on to record a album together.
- At the time Borrero-Lloyd and Emo was only 12, Izobell was 14 and Loukmaan 15.

Backstage Q and A with Loukmaan Adams
Big Arena's or theatre productions?
Big arena's is not really my kind of thing anymore. I like the theatre productions.

What was it like performing with Emo Adams after many years?
It was nice event performing with Alistair and Ramaine. The last time we shared a stage was years 20 years ago as a group, Nu Fancy. I had this big Michael Jackson afro thing gone wrong.

How would you say everyone has grown?
Yes, It's nice to see how everyone has grown and evolved into their own thing having started out at the same place. I'm doing theatre. Ramaine is doing cabaret. Alistair is doing events. Emo is doing his thing as a entertainer.

Will you guys ever re-unite as Nu Fancy again?
You never know. When we walked in this morning it was a bit weird, but after the sound check everyone was having a jol.

Where to next for Loukmaan Adams?
I will be my opening a 200 seater theatre in Woodstock this month. I will be running my productions from there.

Full interview with BlackByrd coming soon.

1 on 1 with Carl Wastie

Carl Wastie and I. Carl Wastie 1 on 1 with Carl Wastie So, I got to sit down and have a good chat with energetic media personality, Carl Wastie at a popular restaurant in Cape Town. Known for his dynamite (literally, after all, dynamite does come in small packages), who cam miss his funky mohawk? Carl is friendly and super-humble . Who is Carl Wastie in a nutshell? He is a Cape Town-based individual that feels that humility is more important than talent. I studied psychology at UCT and later worked at a video shop. People from Good Hope FM saw me at an MC gig, all thanks to the people at the video shop. So, I could say, I started my career in the entertainment industry out of a video shop. You can't believe in luck and hard work at the same time, because lucky people are those who are at the right place, at the right time. Hard workers put themselves in the right place and get there at the right time. Since then, people Good Hope FM spotted me and then Expresso . I
