Q AND A WITH LOUKMAAN ADAMS...

Mywonderyears  is your first solo project as an entertainer. What has the experience been like?
Scary, as I am used to having people around me, although I still have people around me with a different spin this time. Ryan Jones and Caleb Rodgers alternate every night, playing the role of me –in my past and present, future and conscience .They have adrenaline every night once the backing tracks, and lights kick in. You can’t deny the fact they cute.

If you could go back to being a little boy, What advice would you give yourself?
Try and save money as much as possible. I grew up poor, which can be a good thing because you need to know what it is like to struggle.

Mywonderyears has really been a great platform for you to tell your life story. What made you decide that now would be the right time to ‘’let it all out’’and take a deeply honest approach?
A lot of people have their own idea of what they think my highlights are.I am at that point now where I am like I don’t care what you think. Some people can relate to my story and some can judge.

What would you say has been the secret to your success, after being in the entertainment industry for 30 years?
Staying true to myself - People become familiar with a certain sound and expect something they have seen before. Athough, doing my a show like Mywonderyears is risky because people expect something they have seen before, but the show is something different.
Many young people look up to you in the entertainment industry.Who are your role models?
Terry Fortune,Zayn Adams and the late Taliep Petersen. They didn’t have it easy, because they walked the walk by travelling with their luggage on the roof of buses and worked under no fancy lights etc, back in the day.

What are some of your career highlights thus far?
Meeting Nelson Mandela when he came to deliver a speech and watch a show at The West End. At first, they wanted us to stand behind the doors and wait till Nelson is done with he’s speech but he said no he won’t say a word until he meets us.
Meeting Stevie Wonder - he’s story is very inspiring.
My daughter - we share a different kind of love. If ever you really want to know what love is, it’s there.
What has been your craziest fan moment thus far?
There has been a lot, but it is all about how you handle it. It can be tricky, because whatever you say might affect someone’s life. Yes, you can inspire someone but don’t want to give them the wrong impression.
What are your future plans?
I would like to work more on Mywonderyears .It has opened new horizons I have seen how well it works. Yes, it is nice to play different characters, but if the story is honest you can go further and people can relate more to it.
Message to aspiring performers?
Never stop dreaming and remember, anything is possible.

1 on 1 with Carl Wastie

Carl Wastie and I. Carl Wastie 1 on 1 with Carl Wastie So, I got to sit down and have a good chat with energetic media personality, Carl Wastie at a popular restaurant in Cape Town. Known for his dynamite (literally, after all, dynamite does come in small packages), who cam miss his funky mohawk? Carl is friendly and super-humble . Who is Carl Wastie in a nutshell? He is a Cape Town-based individual that feels that humility is more important than talent. I studied psychology at UCT and later worked at a video shop. People from Good Hope FM saw me at an MC gig, all thanks to the people at the video shop. So, I could say, I started my career in the entertainment industry out of a video shop. You can't believe in luck and hard work at the same time, because lucky people are those who are at the right place, at the right time. Hard workers put themselves in the right place and get there at the right time. Since then, people Good Hope FM spotted me and then Expresso . I
